RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The State of Nevada is warning locals not to provide unlicensed transportation to burners traveling to the Black Rock Playa ahead of Burning Man.

The Nevada Transportation Authority says providing or accepting transportation without proper license is illegal.

During last year’s Burning Man, one Reno woman was blindsided by thousands of dollars in fines for transporting burners to the Playa.

They say it is illegal in Nevada for rideshare drivers to operate off-application or to solicit rides for cash. They also say advertising or soliciting paid transportation services without the appropriate permit of certification is considered unlicensed activity.
