Citing tariffs and economic pressure, Sony has announced that PlayStation fans in the United States will face higher prices on all PlayStation 5 console models starting August 21 2025.
Effective tomorrow, the standard PS 5 will sell for US $549.99and the PS 5 Digital Edition will rise to US $499.99. Meanwhile the high end PlayStation 5 Pro sees its price climb to US $749.99.
This price shift mirrors Sony’s earlier adjustments in April across Europe Australia and New Zealand and reflects a continuing trend in the industry. In a brief statement, Sony attributed the move to a strained global economy and rising costs linked to tariffs affecting components and manufacturing.
