FAYETTEVILLE-- The city will move forward with the new all-in-one, cart-based recycling program, despite a council member's request to delay the program's implementation.
Councilwoman Teresa Turk proposed a resolution Tuesday to request an update of the Trash and Recycling Plan of 2017 to analyze how advisable it is for the city to transition to single stream recycling.
The City Council approved the change from the current curbside-sorting recycling program to the all-in-one, cart-based program at its Aug. 5 meeting in a 5-1 vote.
Turk was the only council member who opposed the change and an associated fee increase. Councilwomen Sarah Moore and Monique Jones were not present at the Aug. 5 meeting.
