While visiting Thompson County Park in West Saint Paul last weekend, I was greeted by two giant polka-dotted eggs nestled among sunflowers and tall prairie grasses. The eggs emerged like primordial beings from the earth — part of a project artist Ifrah Mansour is conducting in Dakota County Parks called “Weaving Abundance.”
A Somali artist based in Minnesota, Mansour’s work explores transformation, growth and resilience through site-specific installations. She frequently works with natural and recycled materials, sculptural weaving and interactive forms.
