ROCHESTER, N.Y. — More older Americans are using technology. AARP says two-thirds of respondents over age 50 say technology makes their daily lives better. But it can be intimidating. A Rochester area program is helping seniors by expanding into the community.

Jim Cross is not a big tech guy. At 78, he’s never owned a cellphone.

“I’m an analog guy,” said Cross, of Brighton. “And this digital world just passed me by quickly.”

Cross directed hundreds of major televised sporting events during his career. He was the producer and director of the TV series "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous."

“I retired in 1994,” he said. “Right before the explosion of technology.”

When he set out to write a book about his career, Cross needed help with his laptop while collaborating with co-author Jim Mill
