Howard County police are investigating after a 39-year-old man was found fatally shot in Columbia Tuesday night.

Officers responded to a parking lot off of Dove Sail Lane and Merriweather Drive just after 10:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police located a 39-year-old man who had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police that a male suspect approached the victim as he was entering the vehicle and shot him at close range before fleeing.

Anyone with information should call police at 410-313-STOP. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
