People who were passing by a burning home in Meriden on Wednesday morning rescued a person and the resident has been taken to the hospital to be treated for burns suffered in the fire.
Firefighters responded to a home on Ann Street around 10 a.m. on Wednesday after receiving several 911 calls reporting a fire and the resident was already out.

Officials said two people who were passing by, including an Uber driver, had rescued the resident before emergency crews arrived.
Crews found the back of the house on fire and the flames were spreading to the inside, officials said.
