BALTIMORE —

The injury bug keeps dealing problems to the Orioles — this time with closer Félix Bautista.

Bautista, who last pitched on July 20, underwent surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff and torn labrum, the Orioles announced Wednesday.

The injury is a tough blow for Bautista, who appeared in 35 games this season after missing the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery.

The Orioles initially placed Bautista on the injured list on July 24 , citing soreness in his throwing shoulder.

Bautista is one of the game's best closers when healthy — he was named American League Reliever of the Year in 2023 . However, he has struggled to stay healthy since then.
