AN AMERICAN football club is set to for a stunning stadium transformation.

Little-known outfit Pittsburgh Riverhounds will be tripling their capacity in the near future.

The Riverhounds' Highmark home sits on the riverbank and has been dubbed the "most beautiful ever".

According to KDKA TV , Pittsburgh are ready for an expansion that will see their capacity growing from 5,500 to over 15,000.

That could raise the USL Championship team's chances of one day moving up to the proposed USL Division One.

If plans for the new division go through then the Hounds would be playing in the highest level of the United States league system , alongside Major League Soccer .
