Elmira’s Brady Martin is heading into the Ontario Hockey League season on a high.
The 18-year-old power forward signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Nashville Predators on Wednesday.
Martin was selected fifth overall in this year’s NHL draft and was Nashville’s highest pick in more than a decade.
The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds centre is coming off a career year that saw him score 33 goals and add 39 assists in 57 games as an alternate captain in the Soo.
He was also part of Canada’s gold-medal-winning squad at the Under-18 world championship this past spring in Texas. The six-foot, 185-pounder had 11 points in seven games and was named to the tournament’s all-star team.
