Waverly-Shell Rock volleyball hosted a number of area teams for a series of short scrimmages ahead of the official start of the season next week. There was plenty of competition for each team at the event, with defending class 2A state champions Denver, class 1A state qualifier Janesville, and regional runner-up Sumner-Fredericksburg all in attendance.

The event worked in round-robin style, with each pair of teams getting 20 minutes to play to an unlimited amount of points. After those 20 minutes, the pairings would switch and the clock would be reset.
