Tesco shoppers have hit out at the chain after it announced it was raising the price of its popular meal deal - with some threatening to stop buying it completely.

The deal allows shoppers to buy a main - which is usually a salad or sandwich, a drink and a snack, at a discounted rate.

However, from Thursday, the price of the meal deal will rise for both shoppers with a Clubcard and those without.

Clubcard members will have to pay £3.85, up from £3.60, and those without a Clubcard £4.25, up from £4.

The price of the store's premium meal deal will also go up from £5 to £5.50 for those with a Clubcard, and from £5.50 to £6 for non-Clubcard holders.
