The first and last time that I ever attended a speech by Benjamin Netanyahu was in the 1980s at the Congregation B’nai Jeshurun in Pepper Pike, more than a decade before I moved to Israel. Netanyahu was Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations at the time. I was very impressed. The guy was a master communicator.

When it comes to the eloquence of an Israeli U.N. ambassador, the shining example was Abba Eban, Israel’s first U.N. ambassador, who later went on to represent Israel in stellar fashion as the country’s foreign minister between 1966 and 1974.
