In an extraordinary session this Wednesday, the National Assembly unanimously authorized the waiver of the parliamentary immunity of Julio César Torres Molina, the main representative for the state of Mérida, who was arrested in flagrante delicto after being involved in crimes contemplated under the Organic Law against Drugs.

Regarding the parliamentarian's case, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, stated: "There are those who believe we're not serious; whoever it is, whoever falls, whether you're a minister, vice minister, deputy, or mayor, whoever steals, whoever traffics drugs, whoever betrays the country will suffer the same fate as this scum," he said, referring to Torres Molina.
