A man surrendered to police after he was charged with murder in connection to a deadly that happened in North Philadelphia over the weekend, according to a spokesperson with the police department.
On Sunday, Aug. 17, officers were called to the 1500 block of North Gratz Street around 9:30 p.m. for reports of a man who was shot, police said.

When the officers got to the scene, they found 42-year-old Direll Skipworth suffering from several gunshot wounds, police explained. The officers took him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead around 9:45 p.m.
