GUYTON, Ga. (WSAV) — Guyton city councilmember Theodore Hamby was suspended effective immediately from his position Wednesday following a June 2 indictment, according to an executive order issued by Governor Brian Kemp.
Hamby was indicted on three counts of financial transaction fraud and two counts of making a false statement.
The City of Guyton issued a statement on Hamby's suspension.
"The City of Guyton would like to extend its appreciation to Governor Brian Kemp and the appointed review committee for their action regarding the recent indictment of Councilmember Theodore Hamby.
Effective immediately, Mr. Hamby has been suspended from his position on the Guyton City Council in accordance with state law.
