SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - As Labor Day weekend approaches, Mothers Against Drunk Driving Missouri is teaming up with law enforcement for Saturation Saturday.

This Saturday, the statewide and national initiative aims to save lives by intensifying impaired driving enforcement during one of the year’s busiest travel periods, in conjunction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.

 NHTSA says drunk driving killed 511 people over Labor Day weekend in 2023. In Missouri, drunk driving deaths have increased by 20 percent since 2019, a trend MADD is determined to reverse.

Saturation Saturday will include coordinated checkpoint and patrol efforts across 100 departments, with Mothers Against Drunk Driving staff and volunteers present along
