RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- More than $48 million in federal funding is going to support improvements at nearly 20 airports in Virginia, including airports in Central Virginia.

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) announced $48,329,251 in federal funding will go toward supporting infrastructure improvements at 18 airports in the Commonwealth.

According to a release shared by Kaine's office, the funding will see about $3,100,000 go toward extending the runway at Richmond Executive/Chesterfield County Airport and $500,000 to improve the aircraft apron at Richmond International Airport, with $444,000 to build a hangar for aircraft storage at Emporia-Greensville Regional Airport.
