Out of the All-Star break, the Tigers continued their worst run of form in 2025, losing eight of their first nine games back.
A once overwhelming offense struggled to keep pace and the Tigers’ pitching staff was losing some of its dominance.
That was just a blip for Detroit (76-53), which has now won 10 of its last 13 games and put the finishing touches on a sweep of the American League West-leading Houston Astros, Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park.

Against a top pitcher in Houston’s Framber Valdez (11-7, 3.32 ERA), the Tigers wasted no time in getting pressure on the
