DRIPA adds obstacles to incorporation of OK Falls

Matt Taylor, director for Area D (Skaha East and Okanagan Falls) on the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) board, met face-to-face last Thursday in ascendancy in Vancouver with Christine Boyle, British Columbia’s new Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs, to discuss delays in Okanagan Falls’ incorporation. Senior RDOS staff joined via Zoom.

The meeting followed a heated August 6 Town Hall where residents expressed frustration over stalled progress since a March referendum, with 588 voting for incorporation and 512 against. Incorporation talks for Okanagan Falls span over 40 years but gained traction recently. The RDOS has long managed the village’s taxes and services.
