RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — From Wrightsville to Rodanthe, beach towns along the N.C. coast are getting pelted with massive waves from Hurricane Erin.

The timing for the worst of Hurricane Erin's impacts on these areas will be overnight Thursday and into Friday morning, according to Storm Team Meteorologist Rachel Duensing, who is in Rodanthe to bring us the latest on conditions there, where two homes are near collapse.

Rip current sightings were up on Tuesday, including a strong rip observed by Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue's drone in the video below.

"Dangerous rip currents and rough surf will continue Wednesday through Friday as swells from Hurricane Erin impact the area beaches. An elevated rip current risk will likely persist into the upcoming weekend as well," said the National Weath
