On Wednesday, the family of Virginia Giuffre, a prominent victim of convicted child predator Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide earlier this year, applauded a court ruling that denies the Justice Department's (DOJ) bid to unseal grand jury records.
In their statement, as initially reported by All Rise News, they declared their "wholehearted agreement" that the DOJ’s efforts represent a “diversion” which undermines the magnitude of the larger trove of Epstein-related materials in government hands. They said, “We call for full transparency”, insisting the DOJ should release all documents tied to the case.
“It is our strong belief that Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein did not act alone, and the DOJ is fully aware of this fact,” Giuffre’s family said.

They added: “We call for full transparency from the administration and insist that the DOJ release all documents related to this case.”
Earlier on Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Richard Berman of the Southern District of New York ruled that the DOJ's request to unseal approximately 70 pages of grand jury transcripts from the 2019 Epstein indictment should be denied.
Berman underscored the legal need to protect grand jury proceedings from disclosure.
He added that the materials comprise a single FBI agent’s testimony, characterized largely as hearsay, plus a slideshow and a call log, offering negligible informational value.

Berman described the DOJ's request as a distraction from the extensive files, totaling over 100,000 pages, that the government already possesses but has not released.
Berman noted that the DOJ is better positioned to carry out any comprehensive release of Epstein-related materials.
This decision follows similar refusals by other judges in related cases, including those involving Epstein's associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, and earlier Florida-based investigations.
