MCCOOK, Neb. —
An immigration detention facility is coming to western Nebraska, similar to Florida's "Alligator Alcatraz."
A shocking announcement Tuesday, left a community searching for answers.
"It was just dropped on us. There was no answers. And I felt like we were blindsided," Jamie Mockry, general manager of Embers Bakery and Cafe, said.
Many here, surprised but supportive of the move to turn a correctional facility into the so-called "Cornhusker Clink," which will detain up to 300 people who are here illegally.
