MINERVA, Ohio - According to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), troopers are investigating a fatal crash involving a man from Columbiana County.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. on Township Road 311 (Patterson Hill Road) in Pultney Township of Belmont County on Wednesday.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a 1997 Kenworth W900, driven by Joseph W. Ferrell, 38, of Minerva was traveling along Township Road 311 when the vehicle experienced an equipment malfunction.

The malfunction caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and enter a wooded area.

The vehicle subsequently overturned and caught fire.

Ferrell was unable to exit the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
