Plane Crash Rescue

Two people had to be rescued after a small plane crash near Haines. The U.S. Coast Guard confirms that a small plane crashed Monday in Chilkoot Inlet, just south of Haines. Two people were involved but were not hurt. The crew members say they were attempting to land the plane but struck a log, leaving the plane stranded in a grassy area.

Sitka Airport Escalator

Hundreds turned out at the Rocky Gutierrez Airport to celebrate an exciting first for Sitka. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to show off the community's very first escalator. Work has also been underway on a big terminal addition here at the airport. That will officially open next month in Sitka.
