It’s mid-August and usually a good time for studios to dump movies they otherwise don’t know what to do with. In fact, there’s no press screenings for any movies starting this weekend. Frustrating, as I was on vacation the week before and then took a week off from this column. I was ready to start pontificating again!

Since I’ve been away, filmmaker Zach Cregger’s “Weapons” became all the rage. It was Number One at the box office its opening weekend and only had a 45% drop in ticket sales for weekend two. An incredible hold, especially for a horror film. It probably will be top dog at the
