California Governor Gavin Newsom

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) dismissed on Wednesday Fox News’s reaction to his satirical all-caps posts, arguing that "nothing about this is normal, and it needs to be called out.”

"When Fox is sitting there, oh so concerned about these Tweets and all caps, they’ve missed the entire point, haven’t they?” he added.

During a press call Wednesday, Newsom emphasized that his strategy has “called out the absurdity of the normalization of [President] Donald Trump."

The Daily Beast reported that he underscored that this pushback has gotten people’s attention , with a nudge. “Maybe they should be paying a bit more attention to what the President of the United States is modeling every single day."

Newsom, a potential future presidential contender, warned that America is on the verge of authoritarianism. “It’s not about whether we play hardball anymore – it’s about how we play hardball,” he said.

Later, he turned up the heat, metaphorically declaring he would “punch” Trump in the mouth. He said of Trump: “We are going to fight back and we’re going to punch this bully in the mouth.”

Tensions between Newsom and the White House have escalated recently, particularly after Trump urged Texas Republicans to redraw their congressional maps for potentially five new GOP-leaning districts. In response, Newsom moved to redraw California’s districts, seeking up to five additional Democratic-leaning seats in the state.

In one of his recent social media posts featuring a black-and-white photo of himself alongside Trump, he wrote: “TINY HANDS IS OUT HERE COPYING ME — BUT WITHOUT THE STAMINA (SAD), AND CERTAINLY WITHOUT THE “LOOKS.” TOTAL BETA!”

These posts have amused Democrats and social media users while enraging MAGA supporters and conservative media. Fox News hosts called him “childish” and “foolish,” with one host even suggesting Newsom’s wife should step in.
