COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Artificial intelligence has become a partner in crime at the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office.

At the beginning of the month, the agency started using the AI tool that’s also used by the University of South Carolina campus police.

“This is a game-changer in law enforcement,” said Kershaw County Sheriff Lee Boan.

He said the new software, Truleo, saves investigators valuable time. The $20,000-a-year system comes out of their budget but saves them time. It transcribes body cam footage, generates reports, and suggests next steps.
