Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, currently under house arrest, planned to seek "political asylum" from Javier Milei's government, according to a report from the Brazilian Federal Police released Wednesday.
Brazilian police found an undated document on one of Bolsonaro's cell phones confiscated during the attempted coup trial in which the far-right leader requested asylum, declaring himself the victim of "persecution" for "political reasons."
According to authorities, the items found indicate that Bolsonaro "had a document in his possession that would have enabled him to escape from Brazil to Argentina, especially after the investigation into the attempted coup began."
