The Chicago White Sox placed right-handed reliever Elvis Peguero on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday because of a strained right elbow.
In a corresponding move, the White Sox recalled rookie right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez from Triple-A Charlotte.
Chicago had recalled Peguero on Tuesday from when right-hander Owen White (right hip impingement) went on the 15-day IL.
Peguero, 28, has pitched in two games for the White Sox, including Tuesday when he faced four batters and allowed one hit, two walks and two runs in one-third of an inning in the 11-10 loss to the host Atlanta Braves.
He also made his first career MLB start in the Chicago’s 2-1 home loss Aug. 11 to Detroit, yielding three hits and one run with three strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.
The White Sox had selected him off waivers
