Iwanted to take a moment to address the continuing fallout from the inappropriate and harmful questions that counselor Rose Van Dover asked to the chair of the Multicultural Committee, April Dinwoodie. Our elected leaders should not be asking about anyone’s racial identity in an interview, full stop. Rose has apologized for using the term. I believe she should also recuse herself from voting on April’s appointment, otherwise she gives the perception that her vote was influenced by the question she asked, or the outcry that followed. She should also step down from the Appointments Committee.
