Orlando is rolling out a new initiative to help people experiencing homelessness, using custom-built buses.

The program, called 407 Connect, features two buses outfitted with sleeping pods, storage, restrooms, and even space for pets. Each night, the buses will provide temporary shelter for up to 42 people. Latest Forecast

City leaders say the program is designed to support the city’s most vulnerable residents, including children and adults. Over the next three years, the goal is to connect 400 people with resources and permanent housing.

“We simply can’t push homeless away and wish that it will go away. We have to address it, we have to be a part of the solution,” Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said.
