An advisor to the New York City Mayor's reelection campaign was caught slipping cash to a reporter after a campaign event, according to a new report.

The advisor, Winnie Greco, handed a wad of cash to a reporter from local news outlet The City in an open bag of Herr’s Sour Cream & Onion ripple potato chips, the outlet reported on Wednesday. There was one $100 bill and multiple $20 bills in an envelope inside the chip bag, according to The City.

The exchange happened across the street from one of Mayor Eric Adams' reelection campaign events as Greco and the reporter, Katie Honan, walked through a Whole Foods.

Honan told the outlet that she thought Greco was handing her a light snack after the event. Once she realized what had happened, Honan said she called Greco to return the money, but Greco said she had already left the area.

“I can’t take this, when can I give it back to you?” Honan texted Greco.

“I make (sic) a mistake,” Greco replied. “I’m so sorry. It’s a culture thing. I don’t know. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I feel so bad right now. I’m so sorry, honey.”

In an interview, Greco told The City that she was just trying to be Hanon's friend.

“I just wanted to be her friend,” Greco added. “I just wanted to have one good friend. It’s nothing.”

Adams' campaign told The City that Greco has been suspended from the campaign because of the transaction.
