VINE GROVE, Ky. —

A fire tore through the Vine Grove fire station in Hardin County Wednesday morning, causing extensive damage and destroying equipment inside.

Around 2:30 a.m., firefighters were alerted to a blaze across the tracks only to discover their own station near Crutcher and North Mill Streets in Vine Grove was consumed by the flames.

“It’s like seeing something you never want to see. This equipment is something we take pride in,” said Vine Grove Fire Chief Matthew Haddle.

Three firetrucks were lost in the fire. Crews brought the flames under control in about an hour.

“It’s something I don’t wish upon anybody, and it’s something that you’ve taken so much work and dedication in and lose it so quickly,” said Haddle.
