Without their star Argentine playmaker, Inter Miami made use of home-field advantage and beat Tigres 2-1 in their Leagues Cup quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday.

Lionel Messi had a knock and couldn't play in the pivotal match, with Luis Suarez being supported by three attacking midfielders in Rodrigo De Paul, Tadeo Allende and Telasco Segovia.

Both of Miami's goals on the night came via star striker Suarez, who scored his first in the 23rd minute. He gathered momentum with a fast run up and drilled it to the middle right over Nahuel Guzman, who dove the right way.

But Tigres tied the game in the 67th minute thanks to its own star forward. Argentine star Angel Correa dribbled through the middle of Miami's defense and just barely curled it on the ground past 39-y
