The ownership group led by Bill Chisholm has officially taken control of the Boston Celtics , and has circulated a release to that effect in tandem with the team.

After the NBA's Board of Governors unanimously voted to allow the sale of the team to Chisholm's group on Aug. 13, the $6.1 billion purchase of the first phase of the deal is now in the books, with the remainder set to be paid by 2028. Former majority owner and lead governor Wyc Grousbeck is remaining with the Celtics as team CEO and alternate governor. Grousbeck will cede his role when he no longer has the required ownership stake of at least 15 percent.

Per the release, Chisholm will serve as the team's lead governor, with fellow group member Aditya Mittal joining Grousbeck as an alternate governor. Grousbeck will also
