LOUDONVILLE, NY (NEWS10) -- The premiere Capital Region men’s basketball series is set to continue for the next four years as Siena University and the University at Albany have announced a new Albany Cup contract through 2028.
“I’m really looking forward to continuing this series,” said Siena Men’s Basketball Head Coach Gerry McNamara. “I knew for years from the outside that there was a great intensity to this rivalry and had the opportunity to experience it firsthand last season. The renewal of the Albany Cup series is a good thing for both programs, and a great thing for the Capital Region community.”
The new Albany Cup agreement features a four-year, true home-and-home series. Siena will host the crosstown showdown in both 2025 and 2027 at MVP Arena, with the series shifting to UAlban
