TAMPA — A night after allowing a franchise-record nine homers, the Rays spent much of Wednesday night facing potential further indignation of being perfect-gamed as their first 18 hitters were set down in order by Cam Schlittler.

But by the end, they had to deal with the massive frustration of rallying to tie with two outs in the ninth, only to lose 6-4 as the Yankees hit two more homers in the 10th — giving them 14 for the two nights — as Giancarlo Stanton and Austin Wells went deep off Pete Fairbanks.

In losing two straight they needed to win against the Yankees, the Rays dropped to 61-66, matching their season low at five games under .500.
