Morristown West opened its volleyball season with a 3-1 victory over Knox Carter at Michael R. Reed Gymnasium, giving new head coach Lindsey Barnett her first victory.

The Lady Trojans captured a marathon 33-31 victory in the first set before Carter came back to claim a 25-18 win and even the match. However, West racked up 25-16 and 25-22 wins to take the victory.

Zoey Zazueta had eight kills to lead a balanced Lady Trojans offensive attack. Ryleigh Davis chipped in seven and Janelyn Dearing and Lexi Massengill added six apiece.

Eden Gibson handed out 13 assists and Zazueta had 10 while Zoey Hodge recorded four blocks and Massengill two.

Zazueta and Davis had 13 digs apiece with Reese Heskett getting 12 and Gretchen Bolton 11. Bolton racked up three service aces.
