NEWTON FALLS — Garfield controlled the pace of Wednesday’s game from the very start, taking down Newton Falls, 4-0.

The 2025 season has gone off to a much better start than last season.

Sitting at 1-0-1, Garfield has scored six goals already in two games. Last season, in which they won just three games, they scored 12.

“(I’ve seen) a tremendous amount of growth,” G-Men coach Aaron Gilbert said. “We look like we’re playing soccer. We’re connecting on passes. We’re finally having things we work on in practice show up on the field. It’s just very different than last year. Last year, we were very close. We were in some one and two-goal games that we just didn’t have. This year, the goal is finishing those games and being on the plus side of that.
