Austin Butler is recalling a scary incident.

In a new interview, the 34-year-old Golden Globe winner recalled thinking that he was “dying” when he suffered a bout of temporary blindness while flying to Chicago to film his 2023 movie The Bikeriders .

While speaking to Men’s Health , Austin said that during the flight, he was “jolted awake” with a terrible migraine just as the plane was landing.

“It felt like the life was being sucked from my body,” Austin said of going temporarily blind for several minutes. “I suddenly felt a euphoric sensation, and I actually genuinely thought I was dying.”

The Oscar nominee went on to say that he “willed his sight to come back” and after it did, he headed to set, writing the incident off as a “side effect of sleep deprivation.”
