AUSTIN, Minn.- Austin Area Arts says that even though the Historic Paramount Theatre will not be reopening in time for the Austin ArtWorks Festival on August 23 as originally planned, the project should be less than a month away from completion.
The builders overseeing the renovation are currently installing ceiling panels, finishing off the bathrooms, putting in decor and stocking the concessions stands ahead of the theatre's plans for a grand reopening line up starting Sept. 14.
According to Kelsey Ritchie, Interim Executive Director for Austin Area Arts, the biggest part of the delay has been a manufacturing issue with the new seats for the theatre, which are supposed to provide wider space for patrons to sit and more legroom.
