The world of basketball has seen some legendary coaches, but more often than not, a few players end up defining a coach’s career. One clear example is Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr. As Kerr once said, “I’m not being modest, I’m just telling the truth. If I didn’t have Steph, I would have been like every other NBA coach and lasted a few years, and then gone somewhere else and coached somewhere else.” Right now, a similar story might be unfolding in Dallas with Paige Bueckers and Chris Koclanes.

With just 9 wins so far this season, you could argue Paige hasn’t had the same impact Curry did. But rookie seasons are tough—Curry lost 55 games in his first year. Still, Paige has already given enough moments to show she’s out there making her coach better, and Coach Koclanes admits it, too.
