QUINCY — Quincy Public Schools Chief of Business Operations Ryan Whicker says he’s pleasantly surprised by the tentative budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
“This budget will be fluid over the next month, with estimates still getting finalized and tighter, but we should be able to maintain a balanced budget this year,” Whicker said. “I honestly didn’t think this year would look as good as it did. The $97 million balanced budget incorporates a 3% increase for the employee share of Teachers’ Retirement System payments for certified employees and a 3% salary increase for noncertified employees, based on the recently-negotiated contract, and an estimated 5% increase in health insurance costs.
