CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Early voting for the city of Charlotte primary election began on Thursday, Aug. 21, giving residents a chance to cast ballots ahead of Primary Day on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
This year’s primary features key races including the mayor’s office, four City Council at-large seats and several district contests.
The mayoral race and Districts 1, 3, 4 and 5 are Democratic primaries, while District 6 is a Republican contest between Sary Chakra and Krista Bokhari . Edwin Peacock III , the interim District 6 representative, is seeking an at-large seat on the Council.
Additionally, 10 Democrats are competing for four at-large City Council seats.
Voters will see their district candidates on their ballot.
"You matter. Your voice matters," said Sherell Mobley, who voted early Thursday mo
