EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - As new and returning students continue moving back to campus, East Lansing is once again experiencing its annual population surge.

That change each year can mark a big shift for businesses in downtown East Lansing.

With new students and parents wanting to explore the area and get a bite to eat at a local restaurant, it can make businesses feel overwhelmed.

Ryan McVicker is a general manager at Barrio Tacos located on Albert St. in Downtown East Lansing.

He says just the extra students alone have been a lot on him and his staff, but he’s glad they’re back for the sake of his employees.
