5- Fluorouracil 4% cream achieved total clearance in 54.5% and partial clearance in 24.2% of hyperkeratotic actinic keratosis (AK) lesions at 3 months, demonstrating a good safety profile with high patient tolerability.

METHODOLOGY:

Researchers conducted a retrospective, single-centre study including 19 adult patients (median age, 80 years) diagnosed with clinically typical, visible, discrete, indolent hyperkeratotic AK lesions of the face or scalp between September 2024 and March 2025.

Patients received treatment with 5-fluorouracil 4% cream once daily for 28 consecutive days. Overall, 66 hyperkeratotic AK lesions were identified, of which 38 were located on the face and 28 were located on the scalp.
