Morristown East opened its volleyball season with a hard-earned 3-2 victory over West Ridge Tuesday night at Isenburg-Siler Gym in a battle of what is usually Region One Tournament contenders.

The Lady Hurricanes won the odd-number sets in the five-set thriller. East won 25-22 to open the match before the Lady Wolves rallied for a 26-24 win in the second set. The Lady ‘Canes won again by 25-22 and then dropped a 25-19 decision to force a fifth set.

East took control quickly and cruised to a 15-5 rout in the deciding set.

Seniors Hannah Hall and Riley Forester had big numbers to lead East. Hall racked up 16 kills and 25 digs while serving three aces. Forester recorded 14 kills, 8 digs and 5 aces.
