DUMAS -- Fire, which originated in the store of the Southern Feed Company on Main Street, destroyed six buildings, threatened the business district of Dumas just before noon today and caused damage estimated at $75,000. Aided by a high wind, the blaze spread rapidly into the adjoining buildings and burned several frame structures across the street before it was controlled late this afternoon by the heroic efforts of the volunteer Fire Department and residents. ... The cause of the fire has not been determined.
