ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Trooper Wright, an amputee will make history on Saturday, when he signs a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) contract with clothing brand Preppy Pirate Outfitters, becoming the first high school athlete in Rockingham County to do so, officials said.
As of August 2025, only about a dozen high school athletes in North Carolina have secured NIL deals. Wright’s contract places him among a select group statewide, highlighting the growing recognition of young athletes’ marketability.
Wright’s journey has drawn attention not only for its milestone status but also for his remarkable comeback. After losing his arm in a life-altering accident in November 2024, Wright returned to the football field through determination and support from his community.
